Artist's Comments

My other Gerber piece- didn't quite come out how I wanted, but not bad I guess. Marvel should just put this guy to bed now tho- nobody else can write him.

Characters like this only work wth their rightful creators.
Excellent pic by the way.

Exactly how I feel. Much as I like Ty Templeton as a writer on other things, his Howard wasn't Howard. And thanks!

Awe yeah poor Howard the Duck deserves more love.

Too bad that his name has become associated with a box office flop.
Some characters don't work without their original "dads".

That is an awesome Howard the Duck with pants and a real fedora. He is one of my all time favorite characters. Great job with the body language. It reads well.

A great pic of Howard. I alway wondered how, given Gerber's examples of how to do the character right, Lucas and Hyuck could make a movie so dead-wrong.

EVERYONE is normal... until you get to know them.

I never understood why they gave Howard pants... I mean, when you take into account that ducks have a rather egg-shaped bottom with legs in the middle, the concept of designing pants for one becomes kind of impractical... I mean, it's not like they can just pull them up, they would have to tediously maneuver it around their tail, then stick their legs in, and pull it up to their waist, which isn't a speedy process.

Yeah, I'm a guy who think WAY too much on the little practical things... Anyway, good job, and nice quote- that story was one of my favorite pianos that Howard was featured in.

Nice expression & mood.

I imagine there was a lot of tinkering from different people.. Did you know originally, Howard was gonna be a cartoon, Roger Rabbit style? I dunno whether that would've been better or worse, but it would have been more interesting.
